Obituary of Jane Heslin
Jane R. “Janie” Comiskey Heslin, 71, of Speigletown (Town of Schaghticoke), beloved wife for 42 years of Leo J. Heslin, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, February 22, 2204 after taking ill recently.
Janie was born in Troy, NY to Lois Neal Comiskey Dugan and the late Robert L. “Bobby” Comiskey. She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and of the Mary McClelland Hospital School of Radiology Technology in Cambridge.
Janie had been a Mammography Technologist at Samaritan Hospital Women’s Health Center in Troy at retirement and had previously been employed at the former Leonard Hospital in Lansingburgh.
Janie was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish in Speigltown where she taught Religious Education and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She loved and was very active in her community as well as with her family and friends. Janie was the most caring and giving person one could ever meet and never complained or was one to say anything negative about anyone. She was a Majorette with The Speigleaires Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, a Coach with Lansingburgh Miss. Softball, volunteer for Sidewalk Warriors Troy, competitively played softball and bowled in leagues at Hilltop Bowl, was an avid reader and New York Yankees fan, loved her horses, camping in the Adirondacks, vacationing in Cape Cod, trips to Florida, line-dancing, bird watching, gardening, faithfully walking her canine companion Effie on a daily basis, was a superb cook, enjoyed a glass of wine and since childhood, loved her friends the “Butts”.
Beloved wife of Leo, devoted mother of Leah (Tommy) Vogt, Kacey Heslin and the late Kelly J. Connally, loving daughter of Lois, dear sister of Patty Comiskey (Marty) Russ and Lois Comiskey (late, Phil) Benedetto, cherished grandmother and “Nanny” of Duane (Kristen) Connally and Delaney Jane Fredereicks, also survived by several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great grandchild this April.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church in Speigletown), 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, NY 12182 and to her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated in Church at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. George P. Fleming.
Interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Lansingburgh.
