JOHN EDWARD ELIE
John passed to the arms of the Lord today, Saturday, March 16, 2024.
John was born in Ogdensburg, NY on December 7, 1946 to Edmund Joseph & Mary Blake Elie. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and attended the NYS Maritime College in NYC studying Marine Engineering. He went on to Canton College where he obtained an Associate Degree in Construction Technology. While at Canton he met the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Wink. As a matter of fact he asked her to marry him on their first date! It took some time, and Judy finally said yes! They were married June 19, 1971, with the approval of William H. and Charlotte S. Wink. As a highlight to their lives together they had two wonderful sons: Peter William (wife, Renee) and Steven Edmund Elie.
John worked for several Consulting Engineering firms in the Capital Area and was recognized as a highly proficient Petrochemical/Pharmaceutical piping systems designer. He served his country from 1969 to 1981 as an enlisted man and later as an Officer in the NY Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve. He was recognized with several prestigious medals for his service.
John leaves behind his wife, Judy of 52 years, his sons, Peter & Steven, sister-in-law Kathleen Coppola, his nieces: Alessandra (Anthony) Petruccelli, GRAND niece Alexa and nephew Anthony, Cynthia Coppola, his nephew and godson, Francesco (Kelly) Coppola and “GRAND” nieces and nephews: Kala, Nicholas, Cole and Juliet Coppola.
