Obituary of Ronald W. Etchells

Ronald W. Etchells, 88, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Trenton, NJ and was the son of the late Allison and Margaret Gregory Etchells. Ron was a graduate of Central High School in Hopewell Township in New Jersey. He entered the United States Airforce in 1955 and served honorably for 23 years, being discharged at a MSGT. He had been a Air traffic controller for the government serving around the world. Following his service to our country, Ron worked for the CDTA in Albany for 20 years, retiring as the treasury clerk. He was a member of Halfmoon American Legion Mohawk Post # 1450 and had been a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent. He was a “rock” to his wife and family, being a great husband and father.
He is the beloved husband of Joan M. Lessard Etchells; devoted father of Karen (the late Peter) Marotta and Holly (Christopher) Kane; brother of the late Allison Etchells and Carolyn (the late Donald) Woodward; cherished grandfather of Dean (Melissa) Marotta, Scott (Kerry) Marotta, Crystal (Preston) Kane, and Nicholas (Patricia) Kane; great grandfather of Kinley, Elyse, Parker and Kaine; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday July 9th at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church in Crescent, 86 Church Hill Road Waterford, NY 12188.
Calling hours will be from 3-5 pm Monday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, New York 12065.
Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY at 12:30 pm.
