Obituary of Melquan A. Simpson
Melquan A. Simpson, 33, of Troy, got his Angel Wings on Monday July 8, 2024.
Born in Bay Shore, NY, he was the beloved son of Nasanga Z. Rigsbee Simpson.
Melquan was Great with his hands, he could build you a house, he had great carpentry skills, he was a people person who would give you the shirt off of his back because he could get another one, he treated each person with respect no matter their walk of life.
Melquan enjoyed music, spending time with his family, anything new, games especially Call of Duty.
He also loved to take risks, if he thought it was possible he was definitely going to try, he didn’t need a crowd, he liked his solitude, He walked with the confidence of a Greek God.
His family knew him as “Smelly Melly” or “Mr. Illy I’ll” - Friends called him “Gucci”.
The love he had for his mother was beyond words she was the light of his life, and he shared a special bond with each relative in their own way; He’ll live forever in our hearts
In addition to being the beloved son of Nasanga, Melquan is the devoted brother of Dhashee’a, Johwuan, Anthony, and Reginald, cherished grandson of Marie Rigsbee and Marvin Edwards, loving nephew/son of Robert Rigsbee, Jr., Craig Edwards, and Alethia & Kairi Kelliebrew, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service the 26th day of July, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Ave (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
His Repast will follow at 2121 6th Ave in Troy; the O’Neil Apartments, located in the Day Room from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 pm.
Melquan’s family wishes to express their most sincere gratitude to Michael J. Barna, their Funeral Director, for making this experience so painless and we are grateful for his huge heart and genuine soul
