Obituary of Barbara Jean Farrell
Barbara Jean Farrell, 93, former life-long resident of N. Lake Avenue in Troy and later a resident of the Diamond Ridge Senior Living Community in Troy, died on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Daughter’s of Sarah Community for Seniors in Albany, where she last resided.
Born in the Town of Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Esther J. McKeon Farrell.
Miss Farrell had been employed at the former Montgomery Ward and Co. in Menands. Miss Farrell had been a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy.
She loved her dogs, gardening, traveling, and hosting family reunions. She was active in politics, writing to her local, state and federal elected representatives which she always signed as “Mean Barbara Jean.”
Loving aunt of the late Michael F. Farrell, William F. (Kelly) Farrell, III, David B. Koenig (Alex von Thorn), John C. (Sharon) Koenig, Sr. and the late Paul B. Koenig (Uwe), sister of the late E. Joan Farrell, the late Phyllis F. (late, Forest) Koenig and the late William F. (late, Patricia) Farrell, niece of the late Lucy McKeon, also survived by great nieces Jennifer Koenig and Jessica Farrell and great nephews Richard Farrell and John Koenig, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon and to the Rite of Christian Burial at Noon, both in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to, Our Lady of Victory Church or local SPCA in memory of Barbara Jean Farrell.
