Obituary of Mabel C. Dudley (Dahlke)
Mabel (Dahlke) Dudley, 82, of Ballston Lake died on Thursday Aug. 15, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. Mabel was born in Verplanck, New York to George Francis Dahlke and Maude Catherine (Burger) Dahlke. She attended Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, NY, received her BA degree in Spanish from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY and an MA in Education from the State University at Albany. She taught Spanish at Ballston Spa High School retiring in 2004. She was an active communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Dudley, Ph.D of Ballston Lake, NY, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1963. She is the devoted mother of her children, Patrick (Carrie) Dudley of Freeland, MI, Andrew (Linda Chee) Dudley, of Omaha, NE, Theresa (Mark) Wintringer of Whitman, MA, and Edward (Kerry Kaylegian) Dudley, of State College, PA. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren, Timothy (Amanda) Dudley, Alexander Dudley, Elizabeth (Erol) Mema, Lyanda Dudley, Karina Dudley and Creighton Dudley; her two great-grandchildren, Warren and Nora Dudley. She is also survived by her sisters, Fran (Bob) Vargo and Rita (the late Bob) Robertine, and pre-deceased by Jane Reichard, Sheila Moore and Rev. Robert W. Dahlke, S.J. She is also survived by brother-in-law Ronald (Patti) Dudley and a cousin, who was like a 2nd brother, John (Carol) Comiskey. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George F. and Maude C Dahlke.
She was a friend to many and her close, life-long friendships with her elementary, high school and college buddies, the Clifton Park Senior Community Center, her Ballston Spa teachers, Chemo Queens and Reading Between the Wines book club friends remained a constant joy to her. She was terrible with jokes and always had to have them explained to her, a source of great laughter with her kids.
She was an intrepid world traveler visiting almost all 48 Continental States, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Belgium, England, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, either with her husband, brother, sisters or college roommate, Kelly Cain Falk and husband Joe. She spent her later years traveling the country visiting her children and grandchildren.
Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family for calling hours on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rte. 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065 with Fr. Pat Butler, Pastor, officiating.
Entombment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Verplanck, New York at the convenience of the family.
