Obituary of Louise Lincoln
Halfmoon - Born October 8, 1932 in Williamstown, MA, beloved mother, friend, and poet Louise Lincoln, a resident of Clifton Park, NY, died June 14, 2017. Mother of Robert E. Bentley, Jr., Gordon Bentley, Gail Bennett (Michael), and Elaine Bentley (Richard Becker); grandmother of Matthew Kasman (Robin), Ian Kasman, Amy Kasman, and Jonathan Bennett; she was predeceased by her siblings Nora Carter (Jack), Arthur Kenyon, Esther Cannizzo (Gregory), Ernest Kenyon, and Alfred Kenyon; and aunt to numerous nephews and nieces, including her close niece, Jean St. Jean (Louis). She was predeceased by her parents, Viola Charron and Roy Lincoln.
Louise was graduated from Williamstown High School and SUNY Albany (BA, MA, MS). She taught high school English in Chatham, NY for many years; served as principal at Mt. Anthony junior high school in Bennington, VT; and served as Vice Principal in the Shenendehowa school district in Clifton Park, NY. She retired in 1995, but continued to substitute teach at local school districts engaging in her great joy of education.
During her tenure as a teacher, Louise introduced the AP program to Chatham High and served many years as an advisor for the Princeton ETS Board; brought theater classes and programs to Chatham High; was yearbook advisor for multiple senior classes; and introduced and taught GED classes in Chatham.
Louise was an active member of the Clifton Park Red Hat Society and Clifton Park Senior Center, where she taught a jewelry beading class for several years. She was an avid reader, Democrat activist, Senior Action Council activist, cat lover, and mentor for many young educators and former students. Louise was surrounded by her devoted children when she died of cancer at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. She will be dearly missed by all in her family and in the community. Funeral services will be private to the family.
