Obituary of William A. Lecuyer
William Alfred Lecuyer, aged 92, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York. He was born in Cohoes NY on May 5, 1932 to Joseph and Elizabeth Lecuyer. He was a proud resident of the Orchard, in Cohoes, New York and a 1950 graduate of Cohoes High School. He joined the Navy in 1951, and served on ships, (LSTs, which he liked to refer to as “Long Slow Targets”) in the Mediterranean during the Korean War. After his service, he apprenticed with the Watervliet Arsenal, made that his career, married and raised his family in Halfmoon. He retired in 1987. Bill loved to cook and garden, was an avid reader, loved to go fishing and hunting, loved dogs, and was a regular at the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon, New York. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Lecuyer, his sister Dawn Ahearn, and by Janis Moffre, his beloved partner and caretaker later in life. He is survived by his former wife and his four children: Sue Lecuyer, Peggy Lecuyer (Kevin Maul), Tess Lecuyer and Bill Lecuyer (Tami), by two grandchildren: Seth Lecuyer and Kate Lecuyer, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill lived a great long life. He was generous and would always lend a hand to help anyone. He had a wicked wit and a great laugh. He was a good father and will truly be missed.
Family, friends, and others are invited to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 US-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 , from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, to reminisce and honor the life of Bill Lecuyer.
