Obituary of Joan M. Sieck

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joan Marcia (Beeker) Sieck, 87, of Rotterdam and formerly of Defreestville (Town of North Greenbush), went peacefully home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Born in Troy (West Sand Lake), NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Edith (Frick) Beeker and for 47 years, the beloved wife of the late Karl Sieck. Joan was a graduate of Averill Park High School.

Joan grew up on a farm but has been the hospitality queen as she has hosted students and friends from all over the world.  She has traveled to Germany, England, and Eastern Europe.  Joan was an amazing wife, mother, and friend to many and had an amazing sense of humor.  She had so many gifts that she generously used to serve her Lord. She fought the race well, showing how to die well amid a long season of pain.  She is now in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She was a faithful member of Loudonville Community Church where she served as a 4/5-year-old Sunday School teacher, she founded and organized a group for widows called “New Beginnings”, and blessed the church with her gift of hospitality.

She was always there for everyone; her family, friends and neighbors and will be dearly missed by all.

She is the devoted mother of Ruth Sieck of Watertown, Mass., Debbie (Eric) Roscoe of Rotterdam, Sharon (Keith) Roberts of Chester, N.Y. and Stephen (Angela) Sieck of Greenwood, Arkansas; dear sister of Lois (Mike) Fields, also survived by 8 cherished grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 2 brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, many cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, September 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Loudonville Community Church, 374 Loudon Rd. (Rt. 9), Loudonville, NY 12211. A visitation period will be held in the Church that morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a reception following the service.  This service will be recorded and live-streamed.

Interment will be in Bloomingrove Rural Cemetery, North Greenbush.
