Obituary of Barbara A. Kewley
Barbara Anne Solarczyk Kewley, 70, of Speigletown (Town of Schaghticoke) beloved wife for 39 years of William J. “Bill” Kewley, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Winifred Friberg Solarczyk and was a graduate of Brentwood High School and attended Farmingdale Community College.
Affectionately known as “Barb” and “Miss. Barbara”, Barbara retired after a 37 year career with the United States Postal Service, working in post offices in New York City, Long Island and Troy. She most recently enjoyed being a “Lunch Lady” at New Turnpike Elementary School in Lansingburgh.
Barbara loved cardinals, gardening, flowers, painting and crafting. She also loved to ride on her husband’s Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a proud member of the Harley Owners Group.
Beloved wife to Bill, devoted mother of Allison Protsko and John (Amanda) Kewley, cherished “Grandma” of Richard and William Protsko and Emma and Jack Kewley, loving sister of Michael (late, Sandi) LaScala, Karen O’Donnell, Linda (Scott) Favara and the late Edward (Sharon) Solarczyk, dear sister-in-law of Barbara (Martin) Fane and Glenn (Joan) Kewley, also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. and to the Funeral Service that evening at 7 p.m. both at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy New York 12182.
Barbara’s family would like to express their most sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided at the Samaritan Hospital ICU by Anna, Annie, Brittany, David, Dr. Bass, the Nurses and entire staff.
