Obituary of Emmott J. Keyes
Emmott J. Keyes, 91, formerly of Brunswick and Troy, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Rosewood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in East Greenbush.
Born in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late John and Genevieve Dowling Keyes and the beloved husband of the Elizaabeth "Bette" Paine Keyes who passwed away on July 15, 2003 and the late Mary Clemente Keyes who passed away on April 28, 2017. Mr. Keyes was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1944 and of Siena College, Class of 1951, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Science Economics.
Mr. Keyes was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II as a Seaman First Class and was awarded the Victory Medal and American Theater Medal.
Mr. Keyes retired in 1992 after having been employed for 15 years at the New York State Higher Education Department in Albany as a Records Manager.
He had previously been employed as Credit and Personnel Manager and Computer Programmer at Denby's in Troy.
Mr. Keyes was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was an officer at Armory Little League in Troy as well as serving several years as a baseball team manager, and had been a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Sycaway.
Devoted father of Freddie ( Jill ) Keyes of The Villages, FL, Linda ( Mark ) Campbell of Kissimmee, FL and "Bobby" ( Kathy ) Keyes of Johnsonville, brother of the late Genevieve Hoffman, cherished grandfather of Curtis of Hooksett NH, Steven of Cambridge, Alex of Troy and Matthew Keyes, of Charlton, great-grandchildren; Tori, Tiago, Arianna, Bolton and Nicksen, also survived by two nieces and a nephew, a step-daughter Sandra J. Clemente of Troy, a step-son Philip Clemente, USN Lieutenant Commander, Retired of Florida, step-grandchildren; Colleen M. Driscoll of Troy, John P. Driscoll, Jr. of Troy, two step-great grandchildren and five step great-great grandchildren.
In keeping with Emmott's wishes, a funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy on Monday November 13th at 11am.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Rosewood as well as the good folks at Diamond Ridge for their loving care and compassion provided to Emmott and his family.
