It was so sad for me to hear of George's passing, I started teaching
George at the Arthur Murray Dance studio on 10 South Pearl st. in Albany in 1980. His First Teacher in 1976 was Sandy Wells, then Karen Weston. After those teachers left he became my student.
He followed me to the new Arthur Murray Studio in the Dewitt Clinton Bldg on State and Eagle st. in Albany. George was one of the first people to know that I purchased the Arthur Murray Franchise in 1987 and kept taking lessons with me. We competed and did showcases together many times. George was a quiet man, soft spoken and a good smile. He loved learning new Hustle and Cha-cha steps and was very kind to the other students. I moved the Arthur Murray studio to Latham in 1989 and George continued to be part of our studio. He had a new teacher named Gina Shattell that loved dancing with George. He really became quite an accomplished dancer! I moved the studio to another location on Loundon rd.in Latham in 2000, and then sold the franchise in 2005 after having breast cancer. I lost touch with George, but I remember him with great fondness. He always danced with ladies that no other men would ask, which was part of George's loving character.
Now I will think of him as another one of my dancing angels that will meet me in heaven when it's my time. Sincerely, Leslie (Linton) LaGuardia
