Obituary of Rita H. Maloney
Rita H. LaRose Maloney, 81, beloved wife of 62 years of George R. Maloney of Lansingburgh, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Leona Mossey LaRose and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1954.
Rita loved every day of the 45 years which she spent with children and children with special needs at the Lansingburgh Central School District where she was a teacher's aide until her retirement 6 years ago. She was a wonderful loving, caring and giving person.
Mrs. Maloney was very involved and instrumental in the development of the Lansingburgh Independent Baseball Complex and had then served as President for many years of the Lansingburgh Independent Baseball League Women's Auxiliary. She had also been involved at Lansingburgh Little League. Rita especially loved a good round of mini-golf with her favorite golf partner George. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh.
Beloved wife of George, devoted mother of Michael S. (Sandy Draffin) Maloney, Steven M. (Deborah Doyle) Maloney and Sandra H. Maloney Batchelder (David M. Batchelder), cherished grandmother of Breanne Maloney, Jennifer (John) Ravalli, Ryanne (Nate) Shull, David (Theresa) Batchelder, Jr., Erin Maloney, Shamus Maloney and the late Joshua Maloney, sister of Richard (Helene) LaRose and the late Constance "Connie" (late Robert) Reid, late Joan (late Frank) Dufty and late Barbara
(late John "Brud") Cooney, also survived by 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Monday morning at 8:45 p.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home,
565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182, thence to St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh, where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Troy.
