Obituary of Maureen T. Hohne
Maureen T. Hohne, 80, of Evergreen Commons, died on Tuesday Jan. 23, 2018 at her residence in East Greenbush, NY. Maureen formerly resided in Brooklyn, NY for over 60 years before moving to Clifton Park, NY 12 years ago. She was born in Brooklyn on May 8, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora Fogarty Doheny. She was a graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn and was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Hohne who died in 2006. Maureen retired from Allstate Insurance Company in Brooklyn. She had worked in the Insurance field for more than 30 years. She was devoted to her large family and especially the children. She was always a caregiver who enjoyed reading and spending time in the lives of her nieces and nephews. They looked forward to their Aunt’s visit as they knew they would never fall short on laughter. Maureen is described as a beautiful woman with a great attitude, so sweet with a nice dollop of sarcasm. Throughout the years, Maureen enjoyed her trips to Ireland, especially the town of Cashel Ireland, County Tipperary. She had a love for cats and were of great comfort to her. Maureen had been a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
She was the beloved mother of the late Elizabeth Hohne losing her to Muscular Dystrophy; devoted sister of Kathleen Moltzen of Warwick, NY, Helen and husband William Smith of Clifton Park, Sheila Doheny of Bronx, NY and the late Edward Doheny, Patricia Doheny and Eileen Fontaine; special brother-in-law Harold Hohne of Brooklyn, NY; special aunt of Kara and husband James Radcliff of Clifton Park along with several other nieces and nephews and their children; special cousins of Cashel Ireland; her special friend Elise Abete, Rose Spinelli, CA and Maureen Cogan, County Sligo, Ireland and the exceptional staff at Evergreen Commons who admired and cared for her.
Funeral will be held Monday Feb. 5, 2018 at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 9:00 – 10:30 am Monday Feb. 5th in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Interment will be on Wednesday Feb. 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island.
Maureen was devoted to charities that would find cures for children suffering with illness.
