Obituary of Cynthia M. Smetana

Cynthia M. Smetana, 54, of Halfmoon, NY passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Troy, NY on March 8, 1963 and was the beloved daughter of H. Theodore and Wanda Pickulski Smetana of Halfmoon.  Cynthia was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and the Junior College of Albany where she received her AAS degree in Fine Arts.  She had been an administrative assistant at Conifer Park in Glenville, NY for over 30 years. And a freelance florist.  She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.  Cynthia had a special love for animals, flowers, boating, swimming and the great  outdoors.  Planning gatherings for family and friends brought joy to her life.  In addition to her parents, Cynthia is the devoted sister of Christopher (Kristine) Smetana of Richmond, VA, Mark Smetana of  Halfmoon, NY and the late Susan Smetana, who died in 2006.  She is the dear friend of David Mannix of Charleton, NY; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9:00 am at  St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

 

Calling hours will be from 3-6 pm Sunday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065.

 

Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterford, NY.
