Obituary of George B. Decker
George B. Decker, 69 of Cohoes, NY, died on Friday June 22, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.
George was born on May 9, 1949 at Leonard Hospital in Troy, NY , the son of the late George Rysedorph and Elizabeth Clark. George lived in Green Island, Schenectady and Mechanicville in his youth. He graduated from Mechanicville High School in 1968.
George married Patricia A. Maltais on February 8, 1969 and resided in Cohoes, NY until he enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB.
When he returned to the area he worked for the US Dept of OPM. Then worked at the Watervliet Arsenal until he retired in 1995. At that time, he worked in various call centers. In 2007, he opened Memorable Photography, photography was one of his passions in life. His last position was with Marcella’s Appliances in Clifton Park. George enjoyed the interaction with customers and always tried to be helpful and provide great service.
George is survived by his wife Patricia, son Heath E. Decker, daughter Kathryne M. Decker, sisters and brothers Cheryl Staudie of Mechanicville, Victoria Sickenger of Ballston Lake, Ronald Wood of Waterford, Robert Proppe of PA., and by many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his Granddaughter, Lily A. Decker and his beloved sleeping buddy, Ferguson the cat.
George will be inurned with Military Honors at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. At George's request there will be no calling hours.
