Obituary of David Van Norden
David Thomas Van Norden, 60, of Halfmoon passed away on July 12, 2018. Born in Troy, New York on December 14, 1957, Dave is the beloved father of Courtney Van Norden, his greatest pride and joy and his step-son David Gorsky, who he loved as his own. He is the son of Franklin and Constance Bourgeois Van Norden, III. He was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School.
Dave retired after over 20 years of valued contribution as a cellular telephone field technician for Verizon Wireless in East Greenbush, where he was responsible for maintaining equipment in a large upstate territory.
Dave had many interests which he pursued with unrivaled passion. He began riding a dirt bike at an early age and became a revered motocross racer winning too many trophies to count. He later became an avid mountain bicyclist as well. Throughout all of his endeavors, his big heart and wonderful sense of humor led many to flock to be his companion, resulting in lifelong friendships.
Other immediate survivors include his brothers Franklin (Linda) Van Norden IV and Jeffrey (Tracy) Van Norden, sister Tari (Robert) Holterman, and two grandchildren, Jillian and Weston Gorsky. He is also survived by an extended family of cousins, aunts, an uncle and several nieces and nephews. His entire family will hold a place in their broken hearts until they meet him again.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Crescent, 86 Churchill Road, Waterford. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home 1550 Route 9 Clifton Park, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road Loudonville, New York 12211 or Saratoga Mountain Bike Association (SMBA) saratogamtb.org in Dave’s memory.
