Obituary of John P. Ryan

John P. “Jack” Ryan, III, 66, of Johnson Street, died on Saturday August 25, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in the loving company of his family. He was born on June 28, 1952 in Troy, NY and was the son of the late John P. and Joan Evers Ryan, Jr. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute, Class of 1970, attended Kings College in Scranton, PA and went on to graduate from Hudson Valley Community College with an Associate's Degree in Computer Programming. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. In early years, Jack had worked for HVCC, Samaritan Hospital and various local banks doing their computer programming. He retired from Citizens Bank after 17 years of service. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the NY Mets and the NY Giants play. Jack looked forward to his weekly round of golf at the Orchard Creek Golf course with his friends in Altamont. Animals held a special place in Jack’s life. He  would always rescue cats and take them in. He was an accomplished private pilot and so enjoyed the sky. 

He is the beloved husband of Karen A. Chouiniere Ryan; devoted brother of Judith (James) Tynan of Albany, Peter (Patrick Jones) Ryan of Cohoes, Barbara (Bob Eppig) Grimmick of Ravena and Mark (Lisa) Ryan of Clifton Park, son-in-law of  Jane (the late, Bill) Chouiniere of Loudonville; also survived by several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

Jack's relatives and friends are invited to his memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 25-115th Street, Troy, New York 12182.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. 565 Fourth  Avenue  Troy, NY 12182.
