Obituary of James J. Maldonado, Jr.
James J. "Jay" Maldonado, Jr., 45, of Lansingburgh, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded and in the care of his family at home on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
Born and educated in Troy, he is the son of Suzanne M. "Sue" Posniewski Marafito and the late James J. "Jimmy" Maldonado (Sharlene M. Hatch Maldonado).
Jay retired due to illness from Hannaford Supermarkets where he had been employed in both their Lansingburgh and Wynantskill stores.
Jay loved sports and was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He was baptized and attended St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh.
He loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his mother Suzanne "Sue" Marafito, Jay is the brother of Blynda (John) Thornton, Melissa Maldonado, Nicolle Hatch and Tara Hiles, nephew of Barbara Becker, uncle of John Thornton, Nicholas Thornton, Jason Lajeunesse, Cassandra Bagramian, Samantha Brooks, Anthony Brooks, great uncle of Sienna Thornton and is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his best friend of all, Poppy.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jay's calling hours on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and to his funeral service that evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. both in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh),Troy, NY 12182. The burial will take place on Thursday at 12 Noon in the Oakwood Cemetery (for GPS, use 186 Oakwood Avenue, Troy, NY 12182). Those attending are asked to please arrive at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday at the main road in front of the Gardner Earl Memorial Crematorium Chapel where the hearse will lead the procession to the graveside together.
