Obituary of Kenneth N. VanPelt
Kenneth Norman VanPelt, age 72, of Fort Edward N.Y., passed suddenly into the arms of his Lord on November 12, 2018. He was born on September 15, 1946 in Utica N.Y. the son of Percy and Jessilee (Easterly) VanPelt. Kenneth graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1964, and relocated to the Albany area where he started his family with his wife at the time (now Diane Sluti), and began a long career with New York State as programmer, analyst, and retiring from management at the Department of Labor in September, 2001.
Ken will be remembered most for his generous and giving nature. A
truly devoted father, protective brother, loving son and loyal friend. A man
whose faith and desire to serve God was unsurpassed. He was a nature and animal
lover, had a sharp wit, was a Jack of all trades, and a master of
everything he tried. Whether it was the handcrafted cradle he lovingly built
for his granddaughter, the album worthy photographs he took for a relative’s
wedding day, the piecrust he perfected for family get togethers, the black
diamond he skied, the black belt he earned, or the countless hours he spent
volunteering and serving his church as sound engineer or anything engineer…he
could and would do anything. He could be a man of few words, or a man of so
many, but he will always be remembered as a man of integrity...a brilliant
mind, a brilliant heart, and a brilliant soul.
Ken was pre-deceased by both his parents, and leaves behind his
children; Matthew VanPelt of Clifton Park, N.Y., Melynnda (Jason) DeWitt of
Clifton Park, N.Y., Joy VanPelt (Chris Hopp) of Round Lake, N.Y., Amanda
VanPelt (Matthew Campion) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Grandchildren; Sophia
Hopp, Olivia DeWitt, and Virginia DeWitt. Sisters; Pamela(John)Bono of Roanoke,
VA, Cheryl Hess of Roanoke, VA, and Sandra Britt of Whitesboro, N.Y. He also
leaves numerous members of his church family from Northway Church, Clifton
Park, N.Y. and his dearest friends Curt Plumb, Kathy Bohacek and Bob Duncan.
There are no calling hours, however a memorial service will be

26, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to
