Obituary of Doris A. Austin
Doris A. Austin, 86, formerly of Lansingburgh, Amsterdam, Palatine Bridge and Glenville, beloved wife of over 47 years to Frederick J. “Fred” Austin, Jr. of Johnstown, unexpectedly entered into eternal life at home on Monday, December 10, 2018.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Craft Smith and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing, Class of 1969, from where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse.
Doris provided care as a Private Duty Nurse and had also been an RN at the Palatine Bridge Nursing Home.
Doris loved to dance, knit, paint, write, watch American Pickers, operate second hand stores, was a licensed Real Estate salesperson, enjoyed her cabin at Union Falls Pond in the Adirondacks and times spent at the VFW in Johnstown and Gloversville, was a member of the Moose Club in Johnstown and had a really special place in her heart to help the less fortunate with various needs.
Beloved wife of Fred of Johnstown, devoted mother of Robert A. (Joyce Canzonieri) Coonradt of Mena, AR, Kevin Patrick (Linda) Coonradt of Amsterdam, Timothy A. (Denise) Coonradt of Sarasota, FL and the late Frederick J. “Rick” Austin, III, who is survived by his wife Elizabeth Tripp Austin of San Francisco, CA, mother-in-law of Leslie Coonradt of Florida, sister of Jane Lawrence of North Carolina and the late Ruth Brott, cherished grandmother of Jeremy Coonradt, Rachael (Matthew) Fontaine, Peter Coonradt, Patricia (Douglas) Forman, Heather Coonradt, Candace (Brian) Frankel, Sidney Austin, Christopher Canzonieri, Jennifer Maechler and John Canzonieri, and Geniveve Coonradt adored great grandmother of Douglas Forman, Jr., Mia, Chase and Landon Frankel, Jacob Maechler, Ashley Parnell and Daniel Maechler and the loving great-great grandmother of Jonah Maechler and Maverick Parnell and the loving aunt of Arnie Lawrence and Bobby Brott, II.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 and to her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh which will be followed by her interment at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville at 1:30 p.m.
