Obituary of Joan H. Weglarz
Joan Hoffmeister Weglarz, 85, formerly of Sunset Lane in Speigletown, beloved wife of the late Henry E. "Hank" Weglarz, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Gilligan Hoffmeister
and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1950.
Joan enjoyed sewing, travelling, boating, spending time with her dear friends, Fran and Don Valente and vacationing in the summer with her family, in particular her children and grandchildren. She also very much enjoyed the lifelong friendships and camaraderie of her many CCHS classmates and friends, especially Beverly O'Neil, who comforted Joan in her final hours.
Joan was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church) in Speigletown.
Mrs. Weglarz retired in 1995 after 22 years of dedicated service at the New York State Dept. of Transportation, where she had been an Assistant Engineer.
Beloved wife of over 62 years to Henry E. "Hank" Weglarz, until his passing on October 30, 2017, devoted mother of James H. (Paula) Weglarz of Schaghticoke, Ellen (Daniel) Predmore of Ballston Lake and Diane (Dr. Kenneth) Oberhausen of Avon, CT, cherished grandmother of Eric and Alex Weglarz, Zachary, Samuel and Elizabeth Predmore and Michael, Gregory and Christine Oberhausen, loving sister of William (the late, Tove') Hoffmeister of Houston, TX, Charles (Patricia) Hoffmeister of Guilderland, Robert (Teresa) Hoffmeister of Delmar and the late Donald Hoffmeister, sister-in-law of the late Jean Weglarz, also survived by several nieces and nephews, her many friends and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th St. in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Parish (Speigletown) 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, NY 12182.
Following the Mass, the interment will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Troy.
All are invited to join the family in a celebration of Joan’s life at Valente’s Restaurant in Watervliet immediately following interment.
