Obituary of Bessie Lean Williams Evans

Bessie Lean Williams Evans, 58, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018.

Born in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of Osia Lean Hale Williams of Troy and the late Earnest Lee Williams and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.

Bessie was previously employed at the New York State Division of Children's Services in Albany.

She was very creative and enjoyed; reading, writing, singing and dancing. She loved flowers and peaceful views. She enjoyed walking and loved to exercise. She received the nickname “Bald Mount” from her uncle Anderson Hall, due to her bald head as a young child.

Bessie was a devoted Christian who whole heartedly believed in Jehovah.

In addition to her beloved mother Osia of Troy, Bessie is the devoted mother of Dionna Evans of Scotia, Schenell Evans of Troy and Crystal McNeil of North Creek, loving sister of Otis (Nancy) Williams of Troy, Earnest Williams of Georgia, Dorothy Kate (Dennis) Williams Tillman of Georgia, Jacqueline (the late, Marcus) Williams Pierce of New Jersey, Carolina (Benjamin) Cannon of Cicero, NY, Annie Pearl (Arthur) Rutledge of Detroit, MI and Rose Tucker of Troy, cherished grandmother of Ershawn C. Chapman, Dee'Ahjah Chapman, Durell McNeil, Aalijah McNeil, Aaliyah McNeil and Jayden Ernest Lee Evans. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Scriptures will be read on Friday at 12 Noon at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy, NY 12180, where relatives and friends are invited to gather beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and our friend and family for all their support during our mom’s illness.

Bessie’s family would like to make all aware that the theme will be purple.
