Obituary of Joseph Edward Rigney
Joseph Edward Rigney, 82, of Andrews Ave., died suddenly on Saturday Jan. 5, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital. He was born in Cohoes, NY on April 16, 1936 and was the son of the late Sylvester and Bertha Lessard Rigney. Joseph was educated at Keveny Academy in Cohoes and a master craftsman in his field as a dry wall finisher with an unmeasurable work ethic. He has resided in Round Lake since 1966 with the love of his life and soulmate, Gillian Edwards Rigney. They were married on September 8, 1957. His love for Round Lake was unquestionable. He found great enjoyment sitting on his screened in front porch taking a nap, reading the paper, chatting with all who passed by, and enjoying his 5 o’clock happy hour. He enjoyed a game of chance and always loved to help his family with projects.
His gentle spirit, dry sense of humor and ability to see the good in everyone will truly make him missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He enjoyed spending time in York Beach, Maine in the summers and visiting family in Florida in the winters. He spent his years constantly surrounded by his family and friends. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers.
In addition to his beloved wife Gillian, Joe is the devoted father of Michael (Lila) Rigney of Odessa, FL, Scott (Danielle) Rigney of Round Lake, NY, Christina (Paul) Matthews of Clifton Park, NY, Sean (Elizabeth) Rigney of Round Lake and the late Linda Hart; ( Dennis Hart) of Jensen Beach, FL; brother of the late James Leo Rigney, Edmund Rigney and Charlotte Rouselle; also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm Thursday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford, NY
