Best. Uncle. Ever.
- Vacations at the Host/Host Farm/ Host Corral in Lancaster, PA...especially in the winter when we rode "ski-bobs" down the huge hill.
- First baseman's mitt Aunt & Unc gave me for 13th birthday. I still have it.
- Brand new 1973 Grand Prix that I sat in gas lines to fill-up for him during "gas shortage." Got to use car often as Unc worked across the street from the co-op where he and Aunt Sandy lived.
- Legendary meals, especially at Miller's Smorgasbord in Lancaster, PA and at The Nevele in Ellenville, NY. And elsewhere. Where's the Alka Seltzer?
- Going to Shea Stadium to see the Mets play the LA Dodgers with Sandy Koufax pitching for the Dodgers. Sat about 20 rows behind the Dodgers dugout. Unc asked me if I could go down the aisle to try to get Sandy's attention as he came off the mound between innings...I did...but couldn't get his attention as I yelled out, "Hey Sandy! Do you remember Jack Herz from the Tomahawks?"
- Unc using tanning reflector in Marine Park
- Unc sanding, prepping and filling holes in the body of the Grand Prix as it aged
- The "double dipping" episode at 2052 Stuart St. - live and in color with Uncle Jake and Dad (Nat). Better than Seinfeld!
- Clothes, clothes and more clothes! Charities made out well.
- Unc cutting my hair as a young teen when things were slow at Mr. Fred's.
I could go on because Aunt Sandy and Uncle Jake's lives were so intertwined with ours (Mom, Dad, Me, Randy and Flori) especially when we moved to Stuart St., just a few minute walk from their co-op on Knapp St/Ave. V.

To the friends and family of jack, My condolences go out to you.
I took care of jack at home of the good shepard in saratoga springs i will always remember jack as an outgoing and humorous guy! He has taught me so much between following my dreams and keeping my family close. I will forever remember and miss jack.
