Obituary of Maj. George Henry Lovejoy, Ret.

Maj. George Henry Lovejoy, Ret., 86 of Kinns Road died on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at his home suddenly.  He was born on Nov. 24, 1934 in Attleboro, MA and was the son of the late Luther and Myrtice Taylor Lovejoy.  George was a graduate of Attleboro High School,  Oklahoma University and Union College.  George was a decorated Vietnam Era veteran having served honorably from 1955-1968 active duty and retired as a Major in the USAF from the Reserves..  He was an Industrial Engineer for the Watervliet Arsenal and earlier he had worked for the GE in Schenectady and Bennington College, Bennington, VT.  George had been a real estate agent for the Berical Realty in Princetown, NY.  He loved square dancing and had been a member of the Single Squares and the Spa Wheelers. He loved to cruise and travel, Cape Cod being one of his favorite destinations. He loved a good meal of fried or raw oysters, cup of chowdah, and of course breakfast at the Keltic Kitchen and a dirty martini with three olives. George always encouraged higher education and problem solving, he would spend hours thinking of ways to do things, writing his ideas down on random papers so he wouldn’t forget them and give you that free advice whether you wanted it or not. He loved to cook his ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ meals and you never knew what was in it but he was very proud of his creations.  Nothing went to waste in his house-he would rip a paper towel in quarters, reuse paper plates and cups, and always save things that someday he might need. George enjoyed life, he loved to laugh, and spend time with family and friends. He cherished his many friends and his greatest love was his family.

He is the fiance' of Jenelle Ann Bowen of Clifton Park, NY; devoted father of Steven George Lovejoy (Sherri) of Stafford, VA, Wyatt E. Lovejoy (Beverly) of Las Vegas, NV and Rhonda Jo McMaster-Allendorph (Glenn R. Allendorph) of Delanson, NY; brother of Lois Irene Giles (the late Bucky) of Attleboro, MA and the late Edward Lovejoy and Luther Lovejoy (Eunice); brother-in-law of Barbara Harmon of Attleboro, MA; cherished grandfather of Mehgan and Kelly McMaster, Tyler Lovejoy (Andrea)  and Christine Lovejoy; great grandfather of Parker and Brady Lovejoy; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held on Monday at 11:30 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
