Obituary of Ellen F. Hallen
Ellen Fasciglione Hallen, 90, formerly of Victoria Way and Tanglewood Drive in East Longmeadow, MA, beloved wife of the late Carle G. Hallen, Jr., peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Schenectady.
Born in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Lomonaco Fasciglione and was a graduate of Roessleville High School. She received an associate’s degree from Albany Business College and worked in the business office at Rose & Kiernan Inc. before relocating to the Springfield MA area with her husband Carle. After several years as a homemaker, she became a Certified Property Manager employed by the Westwood Management Co. in the Springfield, MA area for several years before relocating back to the Albany-Colonie area.
She was a communicant of the Parish of Mater Christi and a volunteer Ambassador with the Albany Airport Authority. She frequented the activities offered at the Albany JCC, loved gardening, knitting, cooking, attending concerts, watching sports, listening to the Oldies, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She was the devoted mother of Jeffrey D. (Wendy) Hallen, the late Carle G. Hallen, III, the late Kim Hallen, the cherished grandmother of Julie Hallen, Mary-Kate Hallen and Emily Hallen, the sister of John (Sue) Fasciglione, the late Peter Fasciglione, Eunice Hamm and Florence Reilly, the sister-in-law of Eileen Hallen, and the dear friend of Pasquale Gagliardi. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany, NY 12208 for a memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
At a later date, the burial will be held in the family plot in Hillcrest Cemetery, Springfield, MA, where Ellen will be laid to rest alongside her late husband and daughter.
Ellen’s son Jeffrey and his family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care that has been provided to her by Dr. Bashant and his staff, the entire staff at Peregrine Senior Living at Clifton Park, The Mansion at South Union in Cambridge, St. Peter’s Hospital and the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
It is asked that since Ellen was a breast cancer survivor of many years, that those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110, in memory of Ellen F. Hallen to assist those in their battle with cancer in general.
