Obituary of Janet P. Hurley
Janet Hurley (Nana) passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, in Clifton Park, NY, at age 94.
Born Janet Patricia Anderson on November 27,1929, in Ross, CA, she was a lifelong California girl even while living in many other places. She married her beloved James Hurley (Papa) in 1952, and began a journey filled with love and devotion that spanned over six decades.
Janet was known and loved for her positive spirit, infectious laugh, and ability to see the good in people. She was an avid and prolific bridge player, a devoted fan of the NY Mets and NY Jets, a masterful seamstress, and a talented cook and baker. Nana was renowned for her white chocolate chip cookies, a holiday tradition cherished by many.
Janet's true joy was her family, especially her children Shelagh (Ford), Patricia, James, Stephen, and Thomas. She was the proud and loving grandmother of ten, great grandmother of three, and had several dear nieces and nephews. She was also a second mother to many, whom she adored.
Janet’s family wishes to thank the staff of Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare, who have taken such good care of her in the last few years.
As burial services will be private, the family asks that memories of Janet be posted on this website page in the Condolences tab.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Northeastern NY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/northeasternny.
