Obituary of James L. Austin
James L. "Jim" Austin, 52, of Scotia, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
Born in Albany, Jimmy is the son of Margaret "Maggie" Galligan Austin-Rutolo of Brunswick and the late Lloyd Austin and the stepson of Carmen J. Rutolo of Brunswick. Jim was a graduate of Tamarac High School, Class of 1984, enlisted to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1984 to 1987 and following his Honorable Discharge continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College, from where he graduated and had been on the Dean's List.
Jim had been employed by Gurley Precision Instruments in Troy as a Hydrological Testing Instrument Assembler.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, his music, playing guitar, time spent with family and friends but most of all everything and anything that had to do with his loving pride and joy, Skylar. He loved her swim meets and would serve as a swim official.
In addition to his beloved late father Lloyd Austin, who he missed so much, Jimmy was also predeceased by his loving sister, Judith St. George.
Jim is survived by his pride and joy; 16 year old daughter Skylar, his beloved mother Margaret "Maggie" Austin-Rutolo and stepfather Carmen Rutolo, both of Brunswick, Carmen's two daughters and their husbands; Susan (John) Mamone of Wynantskill and Diane (Kevin) Moran of Watervliet. Jim is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In keeping with Jim's wishes, funeral services will be private.
